The National Science Foundation just announced that the Collaborative Research Grant entitled "[Convergent evolution and diversification of the crab body plan over 200 million years](https://www.nsf.gov/awardsearch/showAward?AWD_ID=1856679&HistoricalAwards=false)**"** is officially funded! This research will use an interdisciplinary approach to understand the significance of carcinization (i.e. having a crab-like morphology) for the evolutionary success of Brachyurans (true crabs) and Anomurans (hermit crabs). The research involves a close collaboration between [Jo Wolfe](https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Joanna_Wolfe) (Harvard, OEB), [Heather Brackem-Grissom](https://www.brackengrissomlab.com/) (Florida International University) and Javier Luque (Yale).
